Lee Na-young, A Magician of Fairy Tales
Lee Na-young
Lee Na-yung debuted as a writer in 2008 when she won the New Writer Award with her story 'I Am Deulba' in ‘Child Literary World.' In 2010, she was awarded the Seoul Shinmun Spring Literary Prize in the children's literature category for her work 'If a Shooting Star Falls, Smile.'
At around 100 days old, she developed cerebral palsy due to carbon monoxide poisoning from coal briquettes. From middle school, she considered writing as the only thing she could do and nurtured her dream of becoming a writer. Consequently, she chose to major in creative writing at university. Although she initially wanted to write novels, she began focusing on children’s literature from her sophomore year.
As a member of the Korea Children’s Literature Society, she has published several long-form children’s books through newspapers and literary magazines. Her literary world is centered around creating stories that instill confidence in children and help them believe in their dreams.
