GO Ara, (Female, Hearing Impairment)
In spring when cherry blossoms bloom, 1988, 4 months after she was born, she lost her hearing due to high fever, and learned oralism(talking while looking at the shape of one’s mouth).
She started dancing at the age of 7, and entered the path by training at the Moscow National Ballet Academy (formerly Bloshoi Ballet School) in Russia during her middle school years.
She majored in ballet at Deokwon Arts High School and Kyunghee University, and obtained her master’s degree.
Ever since, she performed in various small and large stages, which led her to perform as the leading dancer in the closing ceremony of the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Paralympics, and also winning the 2019 Presidential Award for the Disabled Culture and Arts.
Currently, she works as a freelancer working in various fields such as lectures, mentoring, modeling, broadcasting, performances, and more.
Also, she is challenging herself to create various projects dreaming of a society where disabled and non-disabled artists work together.
