LEE Junghee Becomes the Head of the Imperial Household

LEE Junghee (Female, physical disability)

Her disability came after suffering from polio at an early age, but grew up straight with great love from her mother and grandmother. 

While living with her family at her hometown, her mother and her cousin requested her to learn embroidery, and instantly recognized her skills which lead her to study in Seoul at the Seoul Important Intangible Cultural Property Training Center. 

Though there were many difficulties to overcome, her skills were recognized as time went by. 

Starting from local traditional crafts contests, she won several prestigious competitions across the country, and was also honored “Hwagwan” from the Blue House at the 13^th Disabled Art Exhibition.

Until now, she has held 16 individual exhibitions and participated in many association and membership exhibitions which represent her fame in the field.

By the recommendation of benefactors who recognizes her talents, she now takes embroidery lectures at universities realizing the importance of fostering future students and have been teaching traditional embroidery to many people until now.

She enjoys her simple life while teaching and continuing the Korean tradition with other people. 

Also, she is constantly completing the embroidery work with her growing son.
